Kathy Spatz

Kathy Spatz is an accomplished leader with over 25 years of experience in public practice with the City of Columbus, Ohio.  Her diverse background as a Landscape Architect and Planner includes land acquisition, land management and zoning.  In addition, it has encompassed strategic planning, design and construction management of public infrastructure.

Kathy is committed to civic responsibility by facilitating access to resources to provide support to the community.  The dedication is intended to make a difference to people’s lives and their quality of life.  She is known as a creative problem solver and a leader with integrity that inspires others.

Kathy is an active leader within the National Management Association having served as the National Chair in 2018 and has been a member of the Board of Directors for nearly twenty years.  She served as the liaison with the International Management Council, located in Taiwan, to foster unity in leadership development.

She has been a frequent speaker in the community and presented at the 2023 Ohio Parks and Recreation Association Conference discussing Partnerships of Possibility, Sharing Resources in Our Community.  She is also active in the National Recreation and Parks Association serving as an accreditation reviewer for the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.

Kathy earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.  She also holds a certification from the National Recreation and Parks Association as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.

Outside of her professional realm, Kathy is an avid reader.  She enjoys travel and learning about cultures and heritage.  She enjoys documenting these adventures through photography.
